The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by CM Eknath Shinde, has approved the Integral Ring Metro Rail Project in Thane, aiming to enhance interconnectivity within the city and provide efficient transport options for employees commuting to major business hubs. Estimated to cost ?12,200.10 crore, the project is expected to be completed by 2029. Currently, the tendering process for the Thane Integral Ring Metro is underway. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL or MahaMetro) will lead this groundbreaking initiative, marking its first greenfield project in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Initially planned seven years ago and undertaken by the Thane Municipal Corporation, the project will proceed with bids for the design of the remaining 14 stations following geo-technical investigations.
