At a total cost of Rs 12,000 crore, a 360 km long railway line between Manmad and Indore was proposed in 2016. Through this project, the distance between Indore and Mumbai would be cut by around 250 kilometres, saving travel time and benefiting the passengers. However, despite the completion of the final report in 2016, the project has experienced ongoing implementation delays. Together with the state governments of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, the Indore-Manmad railway line will be finished.
