Vedanta – Foxconn combine is going to set up semiconductor and display manufacturing plant in Gujarat. An agreement was recently signed with the state government in this regard. The project will see a massive investment of about Rs 1.54 lakh crore. Out of the anticipated investment, Rs 94,000 crore will be used to establish a manufacturing facility for displays, while Rs 60,000 crore will be used to establish a facility for semiconductors. Anil Agarwal, chairman of Vedanta Resources, hopes that the projected semiconductor and display manufacturing facility will begin operating in less than 2.5 years from the commencement of construction.
