Toyota’s first-ever pilot project for Flexi-Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles (FFV-SHEV) in India, which will run on 100% petrol as well as 20 to 100% mixed ethanol and electric power, was launched by the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways in October 2022. The Minister claimed that if this pilot project is successful, it will develop an ecosystem for electric cars and establish New India as a leader in the production of these cars on a global scale. He said that such technologies are ground-breaking, revolutionary, cost-effective, energy-efficient, and will fundamentally transform the transportation industry in New India.
