The Airports Authority of India has taken on the development work of the Civil Enclave at Kanpur Airport with improved passenger facilities. The airport upgradation project is estimated to cost ?143.6 Crore. The construction of a new terminal building and an apron big enough to park three A-321 planes are all part of the development project. The new terminal building of the civic enclave, which will be constructed over 6248 square metres, will have a capacity to handle 300 passengers during peak hours. The terminal will contain eight check-in counters and conveyor belts for arriving passengers, as well as all current passenger amenities. Additionally, a parking space has been developed to accommodate 150 cars. The terminal building will have sustainability features and a Four-Star GRIHA rating for energy efficiency. The terminals façade will incorporate elements of the regions art and history, drawing inspiration from the well-known JK Temple in Kanpur. The development project is anticipated to be completed by December 31, 2022, and improve connectivity to the city.
