Redevelopment of Surat Airport

The Surat airport is being completely redeveloped by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) with a project cost of Rs 353 Crore. The development project involves adding 8474 square metres to the existing terminal building, increasing the apron’s parking spaces from 5 to 18, and establishing a parallel taxi track (2905 m X 30 m). After the project is finished, the brand-new, cutting-edge expanded terminal building will have the capacity to accommodate 2.6 million passengers annually. The terminal building will contain 20 check-in counters, five aerobridges, an in-line baggage handling system, and five conveyor belts for incoming passengers, among other contemporary passenger conveniences. Additionally, the new terminal building will have a parking lot with a capacity of 475 cars. The terminal building expansion project is more than 58 percent complete, and it will be ready by December 31, 2022.
