The first tunnel boring machine (TBM), which will be utilised to construct the undersea network for the Chennai Metro phase-2 project, has arrived in Chennai from China. 23 more of these TBMs will be required, and they will be delivered in the upcoming months, according to the officials, for the CMRL’s phase-2 project. The TBM has arrived at the port in Chennai, where it will be transported to Madhavaram for assembling. While the tunnelling is anticipated to begin in October, this process will take about three months. The Phase-2 project has three corridors that are Madhavaram to SIPCOT via Kellys, Madhavaram to Shollinganallur via Medavakkam and Light House to Poonamallee via T. Nagar.
