Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is setting up a 8.40-MW solar power plant at its Kochi Refinery premises. The solar plant is coming up on the Irumpanam side of the Kochi Refinery spread over 25 acres. The plant is expected to generate around 123 lakh electricity units on completion. The power generated will be used for captive purposes for the operations of the refinery. The ground-breaking ceremony for the proposed plant was recently held.
