On June 6, 2022, the Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminus, a centralised air-conditioned railway terminal in Baiyappanahalli, Bengaluru, has begun operation.
A completely air-conditioned lobby, waiting hall, real-time passenger information system, VIP lounge, and food court are all available at the terminal. It contains a four-thousand-litre water recycling unit as well as rainwater collection capabilities. The South Western Railway (SWR) plans to run 32 pairs of trains from the terminal, which spans 4,200 square metre and can handle 50,000 passengers each day. The project has cost Rs 314 crore.
