Punjab government to set up 12 milk processing plant

National Dairy Development Board (NDDB)

The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has decided to support the Punjab government’s efforts to build 12 more milk processing plants in the state, at a cost of around Rs 900 crore. Punjab currently has 11 milk facilities that serve 6,000 villages. Following this, the state’s milk plants will number 23 and cover a total of 12,000 settlements. It would also aid in the daily acquisition of an additional 10 lakh litres of milk. Apart from that, the NDDB has promised to establish a Punjab-based institute on the lines of National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI).
