Centre to setup renewable energy plant in A&N Islands

Government of India

In the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Indian government has chosen to build a renewable energy generating plant. By replacing diesel-based power generation with clean renewable energy, the administration will be able to lessen the islands’ carbon footprint. The government and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) inked a grant agreement on March 31 to offer a $133 million loan in this respect. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration is in charge of this project, which is projected to be completed by February 2024.
