NHPC Limited has plans to set up new hydro and solar projects of more than 27,000 MW capacity in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Apart from this, the company has plans to set up plants in neighbouring country Nepal.
The projects are likely to entail a capex of Rs 10,000 crore and more. The company is likely to manage project funding with ease as it is currently in profit of around Rs 3500 crore. Currently, the company is working on projects of a total 6,000 MW capacity and another 9,000 – 10,000 MW capacities are in the pipeline.
