The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) aims to keep working on the Zojila tunnel project this winter in order to advance the all-weather tunnel project, which would connect the two UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The 14-kilometer road tunnel connecting Sonmarg and Drass beneath the Zojila pass, which began construction in 2018, is now under construction. Its purpose is to reduce travel time between Kashmir and Ladakh and give year-round road access. The tunnel is being built in two parts, one on the Kashmir side and one on the Kargil side.
