Indian Railways has recently performed final detonation of 840 metre long tunnel which is being constructed as part of the BG Talcher-Bimlagarh Rail Link project. The entire project length is 154-km. The estimated project cost is INR 1928.07 crore. The Talcher-Sunakhani rail section covering 20-km was commissioned in January 2020. The earth work, major and minor bridges, ROB/RUBs works are in progress are in progress for Sunakhani – Samal rail section covering 9.95-km, Samal – Parbil rail section, Parbil – Khamar rail section covering 14.52-km, and Khamar-Shrirampur covering 19.30-km.
