Varanasi will introduce India’s first urban ropeway system, a INR 650 crore project aimed at improving urban mobility by easing traffic, cutting travel times, and offering eco-friendly transport. The ropeway, set for trial next month and fully operational by May 2025, will connect key points in the city, transporting 6,000 daily passengers. The project aims to reduce congestion and provide a sustainable, efficient alternative to the city’s crowded roads. Phase one is expected to complete in six months, with plans for future expansion to cover more areas of the city.
