India’s electronics manufacturing sector has achieved a significant milestone with Syrma SGS Technology launching an advanced laptop assembly line in Chennai. Initially capable of producing 100,000 laptops annually, the facility plans to ramp up production to 1 million units within the next 1-2 years. The initiative is a key part of the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) 2.0 scheme for IT hardware. Syrma SGS operates four units in Chennai, with the third unit now dedicated to laptop production, aligning with international manufacturing standards.
