Coal India Limited (CIL)
Coal India Limited (CIL) and GAIL (India) Limited have formed a joint venture to establish a Coal-to-Synthetic Natural Gas plant in the Raniganj coal field area of West Bengal. This historic site is Indias first commercial coal field, beginning production in 1774. The plant will generate 80,000 Nm³ per hour of Synthetic Natural Gas, with an annual capacity of 633.6 million Nm³, utilizing 1.9 million tonnes of coal. CIL will supply the coal, while GAIL will manage the technology and operations.
