The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) is collaborating with the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) to establish a 450-500 MW solar park along the Bundelkhand Expressway. A feasibility study identified the potential for installing up to 450 MW on 15-20 meters of land on either side of the expressway. The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the project, aimed at boosting energy supply, encouraging electric vehicle (EV) adoption, and providing clean energy to nearby villages. Estimated to cost around Rs 1,800 crore, the solar park will span 1,700 hectares and follow a build-own-operate model, ensuring long-term economic and environmental benefits over a 25-year project cycle. UPEIDA issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) on October 8, inviting global bids for the initiative.
