Electricity will soon be generated using methanol at the Kayamkulam thermal power plant, which has been closed for eight years. This will mark Indias first methanol power plant, following an agreement signed by NTPC and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. The first phase of production is expected to start within a year, with the plant having a generation capacity of 350 MW.
