The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Oil India Limited (OIL) to collaborate on converting municipal solid waste into compressed biogas. OIL will establish a plant on the city’s outskirts, capable of generating approximately two tonnes of methane gas daily. While OIL will oversee the construction and energy generation, GMC will be responsible for supplying the waste needed for the innovative project.
