Chennai’s upcoming 250-meter glass suspension bridge, costing Rs 30 crore, is slated to open in April 2024. Spanning Villivakkam tank, elevated 41 feet above sea level, it’s the city’s first glass suspension bridge. A recent favorable order allows an adjacent amusement park, part of a Rs 50 crore public-private partnership project. The contractor will share revenue with the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC). Concurrently, the GCC is restoring Villivakkam lake and developing an eco-park as per NGT directives to counter encroachments.
