Paradip Port Trust in Odisha aims to become India’s premier port by significantly increasing its capacity utilization. With strategies such as tariff freeze, coastal shipping emphasis, land allocation for industrialization, and cargo diversification, the port targets handling 150 million tonnes of cargo this fiscal year. By 2047, it plans to achieve a capacity of 500 million tonnes, with a 400 million tonnes goal by 2030. The port is progressing towards full mechanization, currently at 80%, and aims for 100% mechanization by 2030. Additionally, it aims to raise coastal shipping capacity to 100 million tonnes by 2030. An allocation of Rs 10,000 crore, including Rs 3,000 crore for the Western Dock project, supports these expansion ambitions.
