North East Frontier Railway is building a rail link between Agartala in the state of Tripura to Akhaura in Bangladesh. All tenders for earthwork, blanketing, ground improvement by PVD, ballast supply, rails and sleepers etc have been awarded and work is undergoing. Tender for Station Building and Approach Roads have been finalized. Tender for Sub Structure and Superstructure of Viaduct are under finalization. The work is in delay mode due to number of issues which are likely to be sorted out soon. The completion is now expected by September 2021. Ircon is the executing agency.
