NLC India Limited has proposed to set up 2,400-MW Talabira thermal power project at Tareikela in Jharsuguda District. The High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) of Govt. of Odisha has asked the company to take up CSR projects worth approx. Rs.500.00 crore for the development of educational infrastructure in the specified districts of Odisha. The Expert Appraisal Committees (EAC) has recently deferred environment clearance for the project, and has asked the company to revise the EIA report.
