As per a recent report titled ‘India Solar Market Leaderboard 2020’ released by Mercom Communications India, a subsidiary of global clean energy consulting firm Mercom Capital Group, India has added 7.3 GW of solar power generation capacity in 2019. Apart from this a total of 23.7 GW of solar energy projects are still under construction. The report further states that solar energy accounted for 41 percent of new power capacity additions in India in 2019 vis-a-vis 44 percent of coal based power capacity addition.
